Maxis to buy stake in NTS

Malaysian telco Maxis Communications has acquired a 51% stake in loss-making Indonesian wireless operator PT Natrindo Telephon Selular (NTS) for USD100 million. Operating via its wholly owned subsidiary East Asia Communications, Maxis will buy the stake from PT Aneka Tirta Nusa. NTS, a GSM-based network provider which operates under the brand Lippo Telecom, serves around 25,000 customers in East Java.
