Telenor’s Hungarian mobile arm Pannon GSM has chosen Ericsson to provide infrastructure for the initial rollout of its UMTS network. The first stage of the rollout, planned for the second half of this year, will cover the capital Budapest. 3G coverage will be extended to other areas of the country in late 2005 and early 2006. Ericsson and Pannon also agreed a deal to upgrade Pannon’s EDGE network.
