Nuevatel outlines 2005 investment

The Bolivian cellular operator Nuevatel has revealed that it plans to invest USD11 million this year to expand its network coverage and capacity. The company’s CEO Juan Pablo Calvo told BNamericas that its first project will be to bring coverage to the cities of Potosí and Trinidad so services can be launched there in mid-2005. Nuevatel ended 2004 with 260,000 customers, up from 186,000 at the start of the year. Rival operators Entel Móvil and Telecel had around 1.2 million and 250,000 subscribers respectively at the end of 2004.
