Alcatel wins in China

14 Jan 2005

Alcatel Shanghai Bell, the Chinese subsidiary of French equipment supplier Alcatel, has been awarded a contract to deploy a 2,300km optical backbone for China Telecom. The new transport infrastructure will link seven cities in southeast China – Shanghai, Guangzhou, Changsha, Xuzhou, Chongming, Nantong and Lianyungang – and will provide connectivity for Telecom’s ChinaNet2 network. Alcatel says the deployment will enable China Telecom to meet the growing demand for nationwide IP-based data services.
