Telmex to enter Chile’s fixed line sector in 2006?

13 Jan 2005

According to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, the local unit of Mexico-based Telmex plans to enter the country’s residential fixed line market in 2006. The report says that Telmex hopes to launch the new service in Chile when regulator Subtel implements the network unbundling rule, which will enable it to rent capacity on the network of a larger fixed line operator. Telmex has not confirmed the speculation.
