Ofcom will not relax 3G rules

13 Jan 2005

UK regulator Ofcom has said it will not relax the country’s 3G licence terms, despite requests to do so from the likes of mmO2, although it intends to be more lenient with the revocation of concessions, only withdrawing them in cases of ‘serious non-compliance’. The UK’s mobile operators are required to build out 3G networks covering 80% of the population by the beginning of 2007.
