The Caribbean arm of US-based mobile operator Centennial Wireless finished its fiscal second quarter with sales of USD85.8 million, up by 13.5% on the same period the previous year. The number of subscribers in the region hit 543,000, an increase of 97,100 in twelve months. Adjusted operating income was USD33.9 million for the quarter, up 13% over the year, and capital expenditure was reported to be USD12.9 million. ARPU fell over the quarter, which Centennial attributed to strong pre-paid growth in the Dominican Republic. The company said it plans to invest USD15 million this year in a CDMA network upgrade programme in Puerto Rico, to be completed by the summer.
