Hitachi wins USD958 million 3G contract

Japanese cellco KDDI has contracted Hitachi to supply JPY100 billion (USD958 million) worth of 3G communications equipment for its EV-DO Revision A network; Revision A is a development on the 1xEVDO technology, enabling operators to build IP networks that deliver both voice and data services such as VoIP, push-to-talk, push-to-talk multimedia and video telephony. Hitachi will begin rolling out the equipment in the spring of 2006, and will continue working with KDDI until 2012.
