Teledensity to hit 18% in four years

According to research firm Cris Infac, fixed line teledensity in India is set to rise to 18% by the beginning of 2009, from around 8% now. Telecoms services revenues are also expected to rise to around INR1 trillion (USD23 billion), from INR494 billion at the end of 2004. Cris Infac said that mobile customers would stand at around 155 million by 2009, with fixed line customers predicted to reach 56 million.
