Vodafone may be fined

23 Dec 2004

Vodafone could be fined up to AUD250,000 a day after the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) found the operator was failing to allow its customers to switch to other providers quickly enough. The ACA requires cellcos to update a customers number within three hours when they change providers; in some cases however it has been taking Vodafone up to three days. The ACA is investigating whether the delays are the result of malicious or mischievous activity, anti-competitive behaviour, or whether there is a problem with the technology.
