Czech alternative telecoms services provider GTS CZECH has increased its offer for rival telco Aliatel to CZK1.8 billion, trumping a competing bid of CZK1.7 billion put forward by e.Tel, according to local news agency CTK. Aliatel, which provides voice, data and internet services primarily to the corporate market, is currently 39.72% owned by Germany’s RWE, with the remainder held by six Czech power companies which each hold stakes ranging between 6.39% and 12.53%. The sale was handled by London-based ABM Amro and a contract could even have been signed last night. A third bidder for the company was Czech telco Ceske radiokomunikace (CRa). GTS CZECH, owned by AnTel Holdings, has been operational since 1991 and also offers voice, data and internet services in the domestic market.
