21 Dec 2004

Africa’s largest telco Telkom SA has expressed an interest in acquiring an equity stake in Telkom Kenya, according to allafrica.com. A Kenyan government spokesperson claims the Cabinet is in the process of selecting a consultant to advise on the sale of Telkom; a sale is unlikely to get underway before end-2005. The South African telco is currently blazing a trail across the continent, having already made known its interest in purchasing Nigerian wireline company Nitel and its equivalent in Angola, Angola Telecoms.
