Government rejects SA joint venture bid

The Papua New Guinea government has rejected a bid from a South African joint venture between Econet Wireless and Allied Technologies, for a 51% stake in the country’s fixed line telco Telikom PNG. According to Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare, the government has decided not to proceed with the sale at all, but will re-examine its options next year.
