Ofcom, the UK telecoms regulator, confirmed yesterday that it is ‘consulting’ on possible new 3G spectrum allocations. A Sunday report in The Business newspaper said that Ofcom is set to announce a second round of 3G licence auctions ‘in the next few weeks’, with bidders expected to include BT Group and Virgin Mobile. The regulator declined to comment further pending the publication of the official consultation documents.
