7 Dec 2004

Italian businessman Cesare Romiti is planning to make a revised offer for telecoms group Wind, according to the Financial Times. Mr Romiti, who heads a consortium which includes Egypt’s Sawiris family as well as a number of investment banks and funds, told reporters the consortium was keen to acquire all of the shares in Wind from owner Enel, although was also open to the possibility of forming an alliance of controlling shareholders alongside other investors. Mr Romiti made an undisclosed bid for the telecoms group last month which was rejected by Enel boss Paolo Scaroni.
