The two bidders for Hungary’s fourth 3G licence – domestic fixed line telco Hungarian Telephone and Telegraph Corp (HTCC) and Sweden’s Tele2 – are facing an apprehensive wait for the result of the auction, after the National Telecommunications Authority (NHH) said that neither bid was in line with regulations. The two operators, which submitted offers earlier this month, are currently involved in negotiations with the regulator to bring their bids up to the mark. 3G licences have already been awarded to the country’s existing cellcos T-Mobile, Pannon GSM and Vodafone, and the winner of the fourth concession is due to be announced before the end of the year.
