CVG Telecom given go ahead to launch

1 Dec 2004

Newly created state-owned telco CVG Telecom has been given the go ahead by regulator Conatel to launch operations. The new operator has already installed a 1,228km-long fiber-optic network and in September launched a tender for contracts to install a further 1,300km; once this has been completed the telco will own a nationwide backbone. CVG Telecom is owned by Venezuelan electricity distributor Edelca (40%) and holding company CVG (60%).
