Nokia bags USD200 million network expansion deal

The Chinese arm of Finnish equipment giant Nokia has been awarded a contract valued at USD200 million to expand the GSM network of Henan Mobile Communications Corporation. The deal, which is the largest of nine similar contracts undertaken by Nokia for the cellco since 1995, will see the manufacturer supply core and radio access network equipment as well as GPRS optimisation services, software maintenance and consultative support. The new infrastructure is expected to be fully operational in the first half of next year.
