Earnings rise for Virgin Mobile

Newly-listed UK MVNO Virgin Mobile has reported strong growth for the fiscal first half to the end of September 2004, with turnover rising by 18% to GBP256.7 million on the same time the previous year. EBITDA increased by 40% to GBP55.4 million while operating profit grew 42% to GBP47.3 million. Net debt was reduced from GBP311.4 million to GBP264.1 million. The operator’s customer base grew by 47% in the year to the end of September, to 4.61 million, after it added 647,500 new users in six months.
