Bharti’s ever-increasing circles

AirTel, the mobile brand of Indian telco Bharti Tele-Ventures (BTVL), has announced plans to continue the rapid expansion of its GSM network in the sub-continent. Joint Managing Director of BTVL, Rajan Bharti Mittal, yesterday reported that AirTel’s GSM services will be launched in two new circles, Orissa and Bihar, next month, and that the north-east and Assam circles will be operational by the end of March 2005. The development follows INR1 billion (USD22.2 million) investment by BTVL in the Bengal circle over the last month, and will bring the number of Indian circles under the AirTel umbrella to 23.
