Hong Kong cellco Sunday Communications has announced that it is increasing the value of its order for 3G infrastructure with Huawei Technologies from HKD859 million to HKD1.21 billion (USD155 million). Sunday, the smallest of Hong Kong’s six mobile operators with 659,000 subscribers at the end of June (9.4% of the market), placed its original order for W-CDMA equipment with Huawei in December 2003 and plans to launch commercial services over the network in 2005. In addition to being the operator’s main equipment supplier, Huawei is also the third largest shareholder in Sunday Communications with a 6.3% equity stake.
