Siemens’ mission: USD100 million Chinese order

Chinese wireless operators, China Mobile and China Unicom, have awarded German equipment vendor Siemens with new contracts totalling USD100 million to expand their domestic GSM / GPRS networks across a range of Chinese provinces. Christoph Caselitz, president of Siemens’ mobile networks division, said that “as one of the world’s largest mobile markets, China is naturally of vital importance for our mobile networks business”. China has become the largest mobile market in the world, with more than 300 million wireless subscribers in the country to date.
