Mobiles overtake fixed lines

9 Nov 2004

According to the Indian regulator the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) the number of mobile subscribers in India grew by 1.53 million to 44.5 million in October, overtaking the 43.9 million fixed line users in the country. TRAI said that the growth was down to the low mobile tariffs in the country, which it claims are among the lowest in the world.
