DoCoMo chalks up another i-mode deal

9 Nov 2004

Japan’s largest cellco by subscriber base, NTT DoCoMo, has signed an i-mode licensing agreement with Cellcom. The Israeli operator expects to launch DoCoMo’s proprietary wireless internet service by June 2005. The tie-up follows hot on the heels of similar deals with Cosmoté and Telstra Mobile, and is DoCoMo’s tenth globally. At the end of June 2004 there were 45 million i-mode subscribers worldwide, including three million outside DoCoMo’s home market.
