UTStarcom developing Vietnamese interests

3 Nov 2004

US-based IP access infrastructure manufacturer UTStarcom (UTS), which supplies equipment to Vietnam’s iPAS-based limited-range mobile operator Cityphone, is to expand the cellco’s network as part of a wider plan to introduce a range of new telecoms technologies to the country. UTS hopes to work with the Vietnam Post & Telecoms Corp (VNPT) and other telcos in the region to develop voice and data infrastructure, according to UTS’s deputy chairman Brian Caskey. Cityphone currently has around 120,000 subscribers.
