The South Korean government has revealed that it may force SK Telecom to delay the launch of its satellite-based mobile TV service, scheduled for later this year, as it considers whether to allow the new offering to relay terrestrial TV programmes. The operator plans to beam TV channels from terrestrial broadcasters – such as Korea Broadcasting System and Munwha Broadcasting Corp – over its new mobile TV network via satellite, but the regulator says that this should not be allowed until the terrestrial broadcasters can launch their own mobile TV services over landline networks.
