Colombian incumbent Telecom has shortlisted six companies – Cisco, Lucent, Alcatel, Siemens, Huawei and Nokia – for a contract to supply 50,000 DSL ports over the next three years as part of its broadband expansion plan. It hopes to announce the winner by the end of November. Telecom said it plans to invest USD101 million in the expansion of its broadband network in 2005.
