Beltelecom network modernisation under way

Beltelecom has completed the first stage of its backbone network modernisation, having deployed a DWDM/SDH system provided by Germany’s Siemens. The new technology, which has been rolled out along the operator’s Minsk-Brest, Minsk-Grodno and Grodno-Brest fibre-optic channels, will increase transmission speeds to 400Gbps. Beltelecom expects to have completed the modernisation scheme by the start of 2005.
