UOL introduces VoIP deal for consumers

7 Oct 2004

Brazilian internet service provider UOL says its Argentinean unit has launched an IP-telephony service for residential users. The UOL Phone service allows customers to make long-distance calls over dial-up connections, by first downloading some application software. Over 80% of the Argentine ISP’s subscribers are dial-up users. The Brazilian parent, owned by the Folha Group, says it is also planning to launch the VoIP service domestically in the near future.
