Triton to enter Puerto Rico mobile sector

23 Sep 2004

US cellco Triton is set to enter the Puerto Rico mobile market thanks to a deal with AT&T Wireless and Cingular Wireless. The three companies signed an agreement in July, under which Triton will receive several of AT&T Wireless’ and Cingular’s licences, network assets and customers in the country, in return for its own network assets, licences and customer base in the US state of Virginia. The deal, which is worth around USD41 billion, is dependent on Cingular’s acquisition of AT&T Wireless and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
