Vodafone’s 3G coverage reaches 55%

17 Sep 2004

Vodafone Netherlands has announced that it has achieved 3G coverage of 55% of the Dutch population. The cellco launched commercial UMTS services in February 2004 after being awarded the licence in 2000. Its network connects the country’s larger cities, industrial areas, highways and railroads. Customers use a 3G data card, which automatically transfers to GPRS services once the user is outside a UMTS area.
