Vodafone gets new director

Vodafone Group has appointed the chairman of the banking group HSBC as one of its non-executive directors. Sir John Bond, who was appointed CEO of HSBC in 1993 and group chairman in 1998, will bring a wealth of financial expertise to the board of Vodafone which is keen to extend its services to incorporate mobile payment. Sir John will also bring some knowledge of Asian markets to Vodafone as he has worked in Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia.
