Regulator to impose more rules on SKT

South Korea’s regulator, the Ministry of Information and Communication, has announced plans to revise the current telecoms law to introduce a ban on mobile carriers manufacturing and selling handsets through affiliate companies. The move will mean that incumbent telco SK Telecom (SKT) will either be forced to give up its ownership interest in its handset subsidiary, or face caps on market share and production.
