Continued strong performance by mobile operator Bouygues Télécom helped French conglomerate Bouygues near-double its profit for the first half of the year. Net profit for the six months to the end of June 2004 grew by 92% to EUR249 million, driven by a 7% in sales to EUR10.9 billion, as all of its divisions reported improved results. The impressive performance led Bouygues to lift its full-year sales forecast slightly to EUR23 billion, from EUR22.7 billion.
Bouygues Télécom saw its net profit rise 65% to EUR158 million, on the back of a 13% increase in turnover. The results were boosted by strong take up of its i-mode wireless internet service, which has signed up 800,000 users to date.
