Man saved by cellphone

8 Sep 2004

A mobile phone handset has been credited with saving an Australian man’s life when he was targeted by a crossbow-wielding drug user. Robert Troy Scanlon fired the crossbow at Michael Brown of Brisbane because he suspected he was a police informant. The crossbow bolt hit Brown but lodged in the cellphone which he was carrying in his shirt pocket. Scanlon has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for attempted murder and drug possession.
