The Romanian Communications Ministry has launched the sale of four 15-year 3G licences. Interested parties must submit bids by 29 October with the winner to be selected sometime in November. The concessions are on sale for around EUR35 million each, with each winner required to pay EUR10.5 million within four months of the award. Romania is currently home to four mobile operators – MobiFon, Orange, Cosmorom and Zapp – with around 8.3 million subscribers.
