Auna announces broadband and 3G investment

2 Sep 2004

Grupo Auna has announced plans to invest EUR3 billion in the development of broadband networks and services for its wholly owned Auna Telecommunications unit between 2005 and 2008. While Auna has always had to rely heavily on Telefónica’s network for access to the last mile, it has been working to reduce its dependence by rolling out its own cable networks. EUR2 billion of the investment will be used to build new networks, with the remainder spent on the upgrade and maintenance of existing infrastructure. Auna has also earmarked a further EUR1 billion for the rollout of a UMTS network for its cellco Amena, the Spain’s third-largest mobile operator.
