Telefonica expands wireless network

Telefonica’s Puerto Rican wireless arm New Comm Wireless Services (Movistar) has announced plans to invest USD20 million in expanding its network coverage. Under the first phase of the project – scheduled for completion by Christmas – Movistar will roll out 64 Lucent base stations to the island’s principal municipalities. In the second part of the upgrade, a further 52 base stations will be installed across the rest of the country.
