CAZ to introduce new international gateway licensing model for cellcos

25 Aug 2004

The Communications Authority of Zambia (CAZ) has said that from now on mobile operators wishing to establish their own direct dial international links need only obtain an international gateway licence. Until now the country’s mobile operators have been forced to switch their international traffic through the infrastructure of state-owned telco Zamtel. The regulator has said the licences will be priced at around USD12 million each.
