Plans by easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou to use the distinctive ‘easy’ branding for his new UK MVNO easyMobile could see the outspoken businessman on a collision course with rival operator Orange as the pair fight for the right to use the colour of the same name. Orange – the cellco – is concerned that easyMobile’s plans to use orange – the colour – will ‘cause confusion’ amongst its customers. Since the launch of budget airline easyJet, the colour orange has been synonymous with Stelios’ businesses and the entrepreneur says that he is quite happy to take his future mobile rival to court to cling on to the colour. A spokesperson for Orange refused to say whether the cellco is considering court action.
