Etapa mulls wireless agreement

9 Aug 2004

Fixed line operator Etapa is expected to begin assessing a proposal to partner Telecsa in rolling out a wireless network in one of Ecuador’s more remote areas. Under the agreement, Etapa would invest USD5 million in a network covering the Cuenca region; it would then market the service under its own brand, but would use Telecsa’s network to offer coverage of the rest of the country. Telecsa operates under the brand name Alegro PCS and is managed under contract by Swedtel.
