Investor sought for MTL

20 Jul 2004

The Namibian government has begun its search for a black empowerment group to take a 15% stake in the country’s sole wireless operator Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTL). As it stands MTL is wholly owned by Namibia Post and Telecom Holdings (NPTH), itself a 100% subsidiary of the government. The state agreed earlier this year to dispose of 49% of MTL; 15% to a black empowerment group and 34% to a technical partner.
