Telcos join forces for fixed/mobile convergence

Six telecoms giants – BT, Swisscom, Korea Telecom, Brasil Telecom, Rogers Wireless and NTT Communications – have formed an alliance to encourage the convergence between fixed line and mobile services. The group, which has been named the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance (FMCA) and will be headed by BT during the first year, plans to accelerate the development of fixed-mobile convergence products and services to the 122 million fixed line and 23 million mobile customers served by the six telcos.
