Sharp switches to Symbian

Handset manufacturer Sharp has announced that it will be dropping its own proprietary uITRON operating system (OS) and switching to UK developer Symbian’s OS. The vendor said it plans to launch phones running Symbian from next year before gradually phasing out uITRON models. Sharp joins an expanding list of Symbian users that includes Nokia, Fujitsu and Panasonic.
