Triton to expand into Puerto Rico

13 Jul 2004

US mobile operators AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless and Triton PCS have entered into a deal which will enable Triton to launch services in the Puerto Rican market. Under the terms of the agreement, which is dependent on Cingular’s acquisition of AT&T Wireless (expected by the end of the year), Triton will give Cingular its 400,000-strong customer base and wireless network assets in Virginia in exchange for USD175 million, network coverage in North Carolina and AT&T’s assets in Puerto Rico.
