Telkom contracts Huawei for VoIP

Telkom Kenya has contracted Chinese vendor Huawei Technologies to upgrade its telecoms network in a deal worth KES239.9 million (USD3.02 million). The deal includes the implementation of voice over internet protocol (VoIP), which Telkom hopes will help eradicate illegal phone tappings, a persistent problem and increasing source of lost revenue for the operator.
