Siemens bags expansion deal

German equipment maker Siemens has been awarded a USD24.2 million contract to expand the GSM network of Serbian mobile operator Mobtel. The framework deal covers the delivery and installation of base stations, switching systems, and microwave technology in two phases. Mobtel is also planning to introduce EDGE technology into its network before the end of 2004.
