Telkom stake makes Thintana billions

The Thintana Consortium has made ZAR6.1 billion from the sale of half its stake in South African telco Telkom. The group – which consists of US telco SBC Communications and Telekom Malaysia – reduced its stake in the operator to 15.1% after a three-day book building exercise which resulted in the shares being sold to institutional investors for ZAR73 each.
