15 Jun 2004

Mobile equipment supplier Ericsson used the CommunicAsia 2004 conference in Singapore to announce that there were more than five million WCDMA subscriptions worldwide at the end of May. The Swedish vendor also backed up its open standards approach to 3G with a live demonstration of interoperability between ten different handsets. Ericsson’s approach was applauded by rival handset developers, including Nokia and Motorola.
