Indian telco Mahangar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) has announced plans to bid for state-owned fixed line incumbent Rwanda Telecom. The Rwandan government has put up to 100% of the telco up for sale, asking bidders to make offers for no less than 51%. MTNL has recently acquired stakes in telcos in Mauritius and Nepal, and is currently in the process of an acquisition in Kenya. It hopes to take outright control of the Rwandan telco.
